FAME Recognized for Fourth Straight Year as a Best Place to Work in Maine
For the fourth year in a row, the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) has been named as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine. The awards program, created in 2006, is a project of the Society for Human Resource Management–Maine State Council (MESHRM) and Best Companies Group. Partners endorsing the program include: Mainebiz, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, the Maine Department of Labor, the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, and Maine HR Convention.
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2018 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 75 companies in three size categories: small (15-49 U.S. employees), medium (50-249 U.S. employees), and large (250+ U.S. employees). FAME was honored as part of the medium-size business category.

This recognition confirms what we have known all along: FAME is a special place to work due to our can-do attitude, terrific staff and board, and unique and rewarding mission. We love coming to work every day because our mission is to provide financial solutions that help Maine people achieve their business and higher education goals,” stated Bruce Wagner, FAME’s Chief Executive Officer.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience.
Taylor Banister, a customer service associate at FAME, is a recent college graduate who appreciates the warm and supportive atmosphere at the agency. “It’s early in my career and important to me that I do something impactful and positive. I’m fortunate to have found FAME, where the mission of the agency–helping Maine residents achieve their goals–is equal to how well FAME treats its employees. Considering the generous health and retirement benefits, continuing education funds, and all the support and fun we have as a team, I can’t imagine a better fit.”
The FAME staff is deeply committed to providing superior customer service to its customers, the people of Maine, and believes that being a Best Place to Work creates a positive and productive work environment. FAME customers have rated the agency a 4.6 on a scale of 5.0 in each of the last four years as a consequence.
FAME will be recognized at the Best Places to Work in Maine awards ceremony on October 9th and will be listed in a special publication by Mainebiz. The final rankings will be announced at the event.
